Course Description

This course provides knowledge discovery tools to process complex and textual data. We introduce methods for data mining (sequences, graphs) and textual classification and mining (pattern structures, analysis of relational concepts, exploratory data mining, skylines). We also discuss techniques of information retrieval that involve the use of unsupervised learning methods for classification (like k-means) as well as latent semantic analysis in texts (LSA).

Learning Outcome

  • Information retrieval through classification methods
  • Application of LSA for text mining

Prerequisites

  • UE 801

Targeted Skills

  • Analyse a problem before computationally treating spoken or written data
  • Know how to apply algorithmic techniques, linguistic analysis, statistics, and knowledge processing.
